I hit the lake at 9 AM and fished until 6:30 PM. Water temp was 57 degrees, clarity about a foot. The Bass were Obviously Red Hot all day today. My shallow shad raps (Rapala SSR 7. 8 and 9, shad pattern) were the baits of choice, worked with a fairly quick intermittent retrieve. Fish were all hanging around new weed growth in 5 to 7 feet of water.
I ran into Paul, "Mr. Wilson" on the Shabbona web site, and he joined in the Bass Fest. He had 2 bass over 4 pounds, 2 more bass over 3 pounds, and dozens of smaller fish. Shabbona was the place to be today !!!
