The Shallow Shad Rap, Size 7 by Rapala

Perfection. The ultimate bass bait.

If conditions allow you to throw this lure, then throw this lure !!!! All season, any water conditions. If the fish are in 2 to 6 feet of water, then you should be using this bait. Weeds are the only exception to the rule. (He doesn’t like weeds.)

These floating minnow
baits are a perfect copy of an injured, scared, fleeing shad. Depending on the
size of the bait they run from 1 to 4 feet deep on a steady retrieve and are
just DEADLY. They can be cranked directly through most woody cover and easily
bounce off rocks.
He’s 5 pounder machine. Other baits may pull in more runts through the day, but when push comes to shove, he’ll get top honors. Silver or Shad pattern. The best $6 you can spend in the Bass Department. How to work this lure: I get the best results cranking this bait with an intermittent retrieve, speed up for a crank, slow down, pause for a second, whatever, just reel it erratically but kind of quick. I give the lure all its action with reel speed changes, no need to twitch the rod etc.. My Top Colors: Any pattern that looks like a plain little shad. The top pattern pictured above has been discontinued. Colors that I DO NOT like are: firetiger, clown, baby bass, or any of the holographic patterns. Normal shad is BEST, bluegill is pretty good too. My Favorite Size: size 7, and if the bass are very aggressive size 9. I really miss the size 8. Rapala discontinued it. The size 7 has caught more for me, but I liked the idea of the size 8 being in the box. |
